Getting paid and taxes
The question that stops more creators than any other before they start: how does the OnlyFans money reach my account, and what do I do with it afterward? Here's what we know for certain, whether you live in the UK, the US, Canada or Australia, and what isn't ours to decide.
How the money gets to you
No middlemen along the way. This is the path for a creator living in any of the four countries.
- Fans pay on the platform. Subscriptions, paid messages and tips go into your OnlyFans balance. Most of your fans will probably be in the US, but it makes no difference to you: it all adds up in one balance.
- OnlyFans pays out. Your earnings are calculated in US dollars and sent to the account you set up in your payout settings. That account has to be in your name, just like the platform account.
- The conversion, if there is one, happens on your side. In the US there's nothing to convert. In the UK, Canada or Australia, if your account is in pounds (GBP), Canadian dollars (CAD) or Australian dollars (AUD), your bank or payout method converts the dollars at its own rate and with its own fees. Before you choose, check what your bank charges for incoming international transfers and for currency conversion. The differences can be bigger than you'd expect.
- Every payout leaves a trail. Each payout has a record on the OnlyFans side and a record on your bank's side. Those two sources are exactly what your accountant will need.
Why everything has to be in your name
It's the line between an agency and a problem.
The sign-up email, the phone number, the identity verification and the payout account all belong to you from the very beginning. You complete the identity check yourself, directly with the platform, during onboarding. We don't need your documents to assess you, and we don't ask for them when you apply.
That way, nobody can lock you out of your own business. If we ever stop working together, the account, the content, the audience and the money stay with you. If an agency suggests that payouts should go to its account and it will "settle up with you later", that's the clearest warning sign there is.
Declaring your income: mandatory, and personal
This is where we won't pretend to know more than we do.
OnlyFans income has to be declared. That part isn't up for debate. How you declare it depends on your situation: whether you have other income, whether you already work for yourself, how much you earn and what your plans are. There's no single answer that fits every creator, and you won't find a reliable one on an agency's website.
Each country has its own tax authority: HMRC in the UK, the IRS in the US, the CRA in Canada and the ATO in Australia. Beyond naming them, we don't give rates, thresholds or forms here, because that depends on you. It's a job for an accountant or tax adviser in your country, ideally before your first payout rather than after several months of income have piled up. Our part is simpler and very concrete: making sure that person gets a complete, organized set of documents from you, not a pile of screenshots.
What's included
What we actually do with the paperwork, without the fluff.
- Your account, your money. During onboarding we make sure the email, phone number and payout details are in your name. Never ours.
- Monthly paperwork, put in order. We gather your OnlyFans payout statements and organize them month by month, so it's clear where every amount came from. Most creators' tax headaches start with not being able to show where a payment came from.
- A clear invoice for our commission. We invoice our commission from Spain, as a company registered in the European Union. You get a proper invoice to hand to your accountant with the rest of your documents, and the commission is broken down line by line in your monthly report.
- Help setting up payouts. At the start we go through the payout settings on the platform with you, so your first payment doesn't get stuck because of a typo.
What we don't do
As always: if we don't say what we don't do, nobody believes what we say we do.
- We're not your accountant. And we won't act like it. A professional in your own country makes the calls; we just make their job easier.
- We don't collect money on your behalf. Payouts never go through our account. If an agency proposes otherwise, that's the loudest alarm bell there is.
- We don't ask for documents when you apply. You confirm your identity yourself, directly with the platform, and only during onboarding.
- We don't charge anything up front. No joining fee and no monthly subscription. You pay a commission on what you earn.
What creators ask us most
What currency does OnlyFans pay in?
OnlyFans calculates earnings in US dollars. The payout goes to an account in your name, and if that account is in pounds, Canadian dollars or Australian dollars, your bank or payout method converts it at its own rate and with its own fees.
Do I need a US dollar account?
No. A regular account in your name is enough, and the conversion happens automatically. A US dollar account only lets you choose when to convert the money yourself. Which option works out better depends on your bank's fees.
Do I have to declare this income?
Yes, declaring your income is mandatory. Exactly how depends on your situation, so an accountant or tax adviser in your country should handle it. The tax authorities are HMRC in the UK, the IRS in the US, the CRA in Canada and the ATO in Australia. We organize your documents every month so your accountant has everything in one place.
Does the agency receive money from my OnlyFans account?
No. OnlyFans payouts go only to your account and never pass through ours. We invoice our commission separately, from Spain, as a European Union company, on the terms set out in the contract before you sign.
To see how we protect your data and your identity, read privacy and anonymity. For the rest of what's included in the commission, see our services or how we work.
If the paperwork is what's holding you back, let's start there
In your assessment we go over how you'll get paid before we talk about content. It's what reassures creators most, and what few agencies bother to explain.
Applying is free and doesn't commit you to anything. A real person replies within 24 hours.
